Although the overall dimensions of an enclosed ceiling fan may rival a regular ceiling fan, the actual blade size will be much smaller. Enclosed ceiling fans are regulated to much smaller sizes due to the increase in weight of the cage itself. This increase in weight makes caging-in a large fan impractical or even dangerous since the fan is a moving object (unlike a large chandelier that does not move).
Where You Can Install a Small Fan is Limited
So what does a small fan on a cage enclosed ceiling fan really mean in terms of best location of installation? As a general rule, small ceiling fans are better suited for small spaces. This allows for the entire space to be cooled without any dead zones that the fan cannot reach.
